The German potato breeding company NORIKA, which is one of the world’s largest growers of potato seeds, offers a growing variety of early varieties of potatoes for consumption and processing.
Among the most popular and preferred varieties are ALLORA and BORWINA. The vegetation period lasts about 65 days after germination. Both varieties form mainly large tubers with a right circular oval shape, excellent appearance and yellow color in the interior. The skin is smooth and yellow, which implies a quick and good realization on the market. Under normal conditions, the varieties form between 8-15 tubers, which in the main part reach more than 50 mm in size.
The yield of these varieties in terms of technological requirements and irrigation conditions is on average between 4.5 – 5.0 tons of decare and in many cases even higher. Both varieties are resistant to the main types of cyst nematodes, the major viruses affecting potatoes, as well as relatively resistant to the rhizocontrol and scab. The storability of ALLORA and BORWINA, despite being early varieties, is very good.
The varieties are characterized by fast and intense plant growth, white flowers with medium to high blooming frequency. The plants are medium to high and form a large leaf mass.
ALLORA and BORWINA are widely used in potato production in Bulgaria. Varieties are gaining increasing popularity among potato growers and their demand is increasing every year. They are very well adapted to the soil and climate characteristics typical of the country.
Both varieties can also be used for supernatural production such as fresh potatoes.
ALLORA and BORWINA are universal in their use and can be used for frying as well as for baking and cooking.
